Mojave Desert bursting with color, April 29, 2013

These photos will dispel all previous misconceptions of a desert being a flat, dry, dusty place. This was a stretch of the Mojave Desert, south of Yucca, AZ, along Alamo Road. It was bursting with all kinds of colorful vegetation: Joshua Trees, Saguaros, Prickly Pear Cactus, Ocotillo in full bloom, Brittle Bush, and many other assorted wildflowers and plants. It was a very warm day and we cruised through here around noon. Our car thermometer hit triple-digits, which obviously the plants loved. We are told that this type of flowering in the desert can only happen if there are enough winter rains. We took a ton of photos and thoroughly enjoyed the sights and color. We hope you enjoy them too!
